Aircraft placards
The following regulations contain provisions that apply to aircraft placards:
- Regulation (EU) 2018/1139 which defines in its Article 9.1 the essential requirements for airworthiness for aircraft produced, registered, and operated in an EU Member State.
- Regulation (EU) 748/2012 (Part 21) which defines the requirements for the certification of aircraft and issuance of a type-certificate or restricted type-certificate.
The above-mentioned regulations specify that the manuals, placards, listings, and instrument markings and other necessary information required by applicable certification specifications shall be presented in one or more of the official language(s) of the European Union acceptable to the competent authority of the Member State of registry.
The DAC accepts that the placards installed on aircraft registered or operated in Luxembourg shall be written in English only, including those in the passenger cabin. At the initiative of the owner or the operator, the placards may be written in two languages. In this case, the second language must be French or German.
