Rights of persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility as air passengers

European Union regulations prohibit airlines from refusing to carry disabled persons or persons with reduced mobility solely on the grounds of their disability or mobility impairment.

They can only refuse to board a disabled person or a person with reduced mobility for specific safety or technical reasons. In this case, the person concerned must be informed within 5 working days and an acceptable alternative solution must be proposed.

A practical guide, available here, has been developed to provide persons with disabilities or reduced mobility with all the information they need to organise their journey by air.
