U-Space : Towards Integrated Drone Traffic Management

U-Space is a concept developed at the European level aimed at regulating and facilitating the safe, efficient, and coordinated integration of drones into airspace. It is based on a set of digital and regulatory services designed to support an increasing number of complex and automated operations, particularly in challenging or densely populated environments.

Although this structure is not yet operational in Luxembourg (nor fully in Europe), the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DAC) is taking a proactive approach to prepare for the implementation of U-Space. This initiative aligns with ongoing regulatory developments at the European level.

The objectives of this approach are to:

  • Anticipate the needs arising from the growth of drone activities.
  • Promote the development of innovative services.
  • Ensure the safety and fluidity of air traffic involving unmanned aircraft.

The DAC closely monitors technical and regulatory developments related to U-Space, in collaboration with national and European stakeholders, in a spirit of innovation and readiness for the future of shared airspace.
