Aerodrome certification
A certificate, in accordance with the provisions of the applicable regulations (Article 34 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1139), is required for any aerodrome
- located on the territory of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg,
- which is open to the public,
- on which are available commercial air transport services and
- which is equipped with paved instrument runways of at least 800 meters, or
- which are used exclusively by helicopters using instrument approach or departure procedures.
Said certificate covers the aerodrome and its safety-related equipment, unless such equipment is otherwise covered by a declaration or certificate referred to in Article 35 (1) (a) and (b) of the Regulation (EU ) 2018/1139.
The DAC may decide to exempt from this certification the design, maintenance and operation of an aerodrome, as well as the safety-related equipment used in this aerodrome, when the latter does not deal, each year, with more than 10,000 passengers on commercial flights and over 850 aircraft movements linked to cargo operations, and provided that this exemption does not affect compliance with the essential requirements referred to in Article 33 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1139 .
