End of the transition period for drones from January 2024

The 1st January 2024 marks the end of the transitional phase for the implementation of the European Regulation (EU) 2019/947 introduced since the 31st December 2020.

What are the changes from the 1st January 2024?

• For the OPEN category:
  • When using an UAS without class mark “C” you will be able to operate in:
    • The OPEN Subcategory A1 when their mass is less than 250g; or
    • The OPEN Subcategory A3 when their mass is between 250gr and 25kg;
  • Only certificates in EU format will be acceptable.
• For the SPECIFIC category:
  • The Standard Scenarios (STS-01 or STS-02) will be applicable;
  • The Standard Scenanio (STS) theoretical examination will be available (on-site examination);
  • All UAS must be equipped with a direct remote identification (DRI) that will broadcast the operator registration number.
