Flight crew license

The DAC issues aircrew licenses according to the following regulations:

• For planes and helicopters :

Commission Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011 of 3 November 2011 laying down technical requirements and administrative procedures related to civil aviation aircrew pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council

• For gliders :

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1976 of 14 December 2018 laying down detailed rules for the operation of sailplanes pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2018/1139 of the European Parliament and of the Council

• For balloons :

Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/395 of 13 March 2018 laying down detailed rules for the operation of balloons pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council

• For ultralight motorized pilots :

Règlement grand-ducal du 13 janvier 1993 réglementant les licenses et qualifications du personnel de conduite des aéronefs

• For parachutists :

Règlement grand-ducal du 4 juillet 1990 réglementant les licenses et qualifications des parachutistes

Training in a school certified or recognized by the DAC is required to obtain the various licenses. This consists of a theoretical part and a practical part, as well as theoretical and practical exams.

In addition, each pilot or parachutist needs a valid medical certificate issued by an approved aviation doctor.
